Community Forum & Film Screening of Heroin(e) in Kittery
Maine is one of the states hardest hit by the nation’s ongoing opioid crisis, but people across the state and here in southern York County are working on the front lines of this epidemic, saving lives, raising awareness, reducing stigma and developing new solutions.
York Hospital’s Recovery Center with the help of the Choose To Be Healthy Coalition and other local partners is hosting a screening of the award winning short documentary, Heroin(e):
Join us on Tuesday evening, November 19th, from 5:30-7:30pm
at the Star Theater in Kittery’s Community Center.
Reception with Complimentary Food & Refreshments
Following the screening, a panel of local experts and specials guests – including Gordon Smith, Maine’s Director of Opioid Response – will discuss how people in recovery are being helped and supported in southern York County. (We understand that Governor Mills may attend as well!) There will be light food, popcorn and refreshments before the film, discussion afterwards and a demonstration of how to administer the lifesaving Narcan® to reverse an opioid overdose.
All community members are invited!

Our goal is to gather community members together to raise awareness about treatment and recovery pathways for substance use disorders, reduce stigma associated with addiction, and provide connection points between individuals, families, organizations and resources.
