Youth Programs

The Kittery Community Center would like to announce that we are now taking registrations for the following youth enrichment activities. All registrations must be done at the Kittery Community Center-120 Rogers Rd., as we no longer accept phone registrations.  Online registration is also available!

toddler open gym

Run, jump, play every day in the KCC gymnasium!

Who: Ages 2-4 | Children must be supervised by an adult
When: Starting February 25, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-9:00am
Cost: Free for Kittery Residents, $1/child for Nonresidents

Beginner TEEN ADULT BALLET

This class will introduce the foundations of ballet, including floor stretching, barre work, and center work. The focus will be on strengthening leg and arm muscles, improve posture and flexibility and strengthening the core, all while enjoying the art of dance. Stay in shape by dancing! No prior dance experience necessary. No drop ins.

intermediate TEEN ADULT BALLET

Creative Dance

The class will introduce basic ballet movements as well as explore creative movement and self-expression in the center. Students should wear comfortable clothing or leotards & ballet slippers. No drop ins.

Wild Child! Nature Connection for Kids - White Pine Programs

Let loose and get wild after school! Join the caring, wacky mentors from White Pine Programs for outdoor adventures – exploring about nearby nature through games, free play and stories. 100% unplugged and outdoors. Staff will meet students off bus right at the Kittery Community Center. Scholarships are available. Please register for this online at www.whitepineprograms.org. Preschool jump 'n gym

Designed to make exercise fun and beneficial by using music combined with movements that focus on fine and gross motor skills. Children plus a parent/caregiver are taught exercises tailored to the age group. Non-walkers and drop-ins allowed. 2nd child is 1/2 price! Drop in fee of $10/class.

Karate

Join 8th Degree Black Belt and Head Instructor of the NE Okinawan Karate Dojo, Greg Lazarus for our new Karate Program! He welcomes students (8 years of age and older) that come to him with the desire to learn the true essence of Matsumura Seito Karate-do. Shihan Lazarus has been training students since 1980.
Our classes stress Traditional Protocol, Self-Discipline and Quality Authentic Training and Techniques. Classes are continued all year. Family discounts are offered. A uniform is required and can be purchased through the instructor. No drop ins.

Story Time with Ryan higgins

Kittery resident and New York Times Bestselling author & illustrator behind “Mother Bruce”, and “We Don’t Eat Our Classmates”, will read from his books and lead children in a drawing exercise

Marvelous marvin's brain circus

“Marvelous Marvin’s Brain Circus” begins with a rhyming overture about brain health and it’s links with exercise and reading. Then we join the circus and feel our brains grow! Play begins. We learn circus skills: juggling props, balancing sticks, spinning plates, flip-and-flyers, hula hoops, rhythm sticks, and romper stompers.

Game night with diversions & Pizza

Join us for a game night at the KCC lead by staff from Diversions Game and Puzzle store in Portsmouth. Come learn about new board games and make new friends! There will be a diverse offering of games including puzzle games, strategy games, and social interactive board games. Drop in!

slime workshop

Kids naturally love playing with sticky, gooey slime. This activity helps promote fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and is a soothing activity for kids of all ages. Plus it is a bonus for parents to avoid the mess!

Family sing-along film festival
